Community Engagement as a Deterrent to Crime
I believe that our schools are stronger when our communities are involved in the decision-making process. As a school board member, I will work to ensure that our school system involves all community members in the collective effort to help our young people lead healthy and fulfilling lives. This includes parents, students, teachers, staff, and community members. Each touch point with our young people offers an opportunity to positively impact their educational and social development.
Investing in Early Learning and Literacy
The data and research is clear - early childhood education is paramount to a student's long term success. As a school board member, I will advocate for policies that support increasing literacy, early numeracy, self-awareness, and self-regulation. A holistic approach that highlights emotional and social education is key to building bright futures.
Career & College Readiness
Our school board must prioritize investment in career and college readiness programs that capture the imagination and interests of our students, the needs of our community, and our growing local economy. As a school board member, I will work with all community members to build the programs we need to help young people enter our workforce.
Innovative Fiscal Policy
As an educator, I recognize the importance of fiscal responsibility but also know there are opportunities to make each dollar we receive go further. I will work to ensure that our school system is using taxpayer dollars effectively and efficiently. This means advocating for transparency and accountability in our budgeting process and prioritizing investments that will have the greatest impact on student learning.
